Etherstone

A life remembered, forever present

A lasting place for everything that made someone who they were โ€” their story, their music, their service, and the memories only your family can tell.

Two ways a memorial begins

Both end in the same place: a page your family holds and adds to over the years.

๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

Through a funeral home

Your funeral director builds the memorial during arrangements โ€” the biography, the photographs, the service details โ€” and hands it to your family to carry on.

โœ๏ธ

On your own

If no funeral home was involved, or the funeral was a long time ago, you can make one yourself. We ask for a few details and a link to a published obituary, and a person reads every memorial before it goes live.

What a memorial holds

๐Ÿ“–

The whole of a life

Biography, hometown, the work they did and the faith they kept. The songs that meant something, with the reason each one did. Military or volunteer service, recorded with the detail it deserves. The recipe everybody still asks for.

๐Ÿ”’

What the family keeps to itself

Stories, photographs, video and recordings can be marked family-only. Those are shown to signed-in family members and to nobody else โ€” not sent to anonymous visitors, and stored so they cannot be fetched by a public link.

๐Ÿช™

How people find their way back

Every memorial has an ID you can type at etherstone.net. Most also have a solid engraved steel marker at the resting place carrying that ID, and a QR code where one is fitted.

The same memorial, two views

What a visitor sees

The life, the service details, the guestbook, and every photograph the family chose to share. Anyone with the ID can open it, with no account and no sign-in.

What the family sees

All of that, and the parts kept back โ€” a gathering that was family only, a chapter they did not want on a public page, the recordings meant for each other.

A visitor is not told that anything is missing, and that is deliberate. Marking something private should not announce that it exists.

For families

The stories that would otherwise be lost

An obituary is a few hundred words. A life is not. Etherstone keeps the rest โ€” the recipe in her handwriting, the songs he played on a Sunday, the voice on an old recording, the memories your relatives add in their own words.

Some of it belongs to everyone who visits. Some of it belongs only to your family. You decide which is which, section by section.

  • Memories from relatives, with your approval before they appear
  • Family-only photos, video, and recordings kept from anonymous visitors
  • Recipes, music, family tree, and military honors
  • A complete archive you can download and keep โ€” works offline, forever
